WriteCrisp for Windows

Real-time AI writing help in every app on your PC. Read the two notes below before you install — they'll save you a confusing moment.

Coming soon
Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) · NSIS installer

Before you install: the SmartScreen warning is expected

WriteCrisp works across every app by simulating copy & paste keystrokes — useful, but the same behaviour antivirus heuristics watch for. Until the app is code-signed, Windows SmartScreen may show "Windows protected your PC." To continue, click More info → Run anyway. The app is safe: it has no telemetry and talks only to the AI provider you configure.

1

Download & run the installer

Click the download button above, run the .exe, and follow the prompts (clear the SmartScreen dialog as noted). When it finishes, WriteCrisp lives quietly in your system tray, ready whenever you need it.

2

Connect your AI (bring your own key)

Open Settings (the onboarding wizard on first launch, or right-click the tray icon → Settings). In the Provider tab choose your service — any OpenAI-compatible endpoint, Anthropic Claude, or Azure AI Foundry — paste your Base URL, API key, and model, then run the connection test.

Your key is encrypted at rest on your PC (Windows DPAPI) and is sent only to the provider you configured.

3

Set your shortcuts

A fresh install has no writing shortcut yet. Open Settings → General and record a writing shortcut and an explain shortcut — or just use the tray menu's Improve selection / Explain selection. The onboarding "Enable Explain" button wires up Alt + E.

Good to know

WriteCrisp works in standard text fields. It can't reach apps running as administrator unless WriteCrisp itself is also run elevated, and text drawn on a canvas (some games/editors) isn't reachable.
